Meshtastic is software that lets people communicate with each other without internet or mobile networks, by forming a wireless mesh network.
Meshtastic uses LoRa, Long Range Radio to communicate.
The range can be up to 15km in open landscapes.
Mesh network
Mesh means that all connected devices will relay messages, the more members in a mesh the larger the range will be.
A neighbor is between you and the person you wish to communicate with, your neighbor will relay all your messages to each other, even if the destination is further away than your maximum radio range.
If there are natural obstacles between you and your destination, a relay can help you overcome these obstacles.
Relays can be solar powered and located on high points to cover a large area.
